SHORES RI (Safety, Health, Opportunity, Rights & Equity for SWers RI) is a group of individuals and organizations deeply concerned about the health and safety of not only sex workers, but all community members. Led by sex workers, their allies, and those who believe it is time for sex work to be recognized as work, SHORES RI is advocating for the decriminalization of consensual adult sex work and other policy changes that will increase health and safety.

Sex work is work and no one benefits from criminalizing consensual acts between adults. Evidence unequivocally shows that where sex work has been decriminalized, human trafficking decreases and public health and safety increases. Decriminalizing sex work will keep communities safer and allow police to focus on violent crime and serious threats to public safety. We firmly believe that laws punishing traffickers, and anyone involved in sexual acts with a minor should remain in place.

Our hope is that anyone who is concerned with ensuring dignity, equity, safety, and human rights for all will join us in urging elected officials to decriminalize consensual adult sex work.
